Happy Thursday!
It's been an exciting week around here! Between making great progress on my latest thriller, a trip to Utah, and a major milestone with our barn, I've got plenty of news to share.
And I have to say, there's something especially satisfying about finally seeing a long-awaited project come together!
✍️ JUST FIVE CHAPTERS TO GO!
I'm getting so close to finishing the rough draft of Stolen From the Hills, Book #4 in my Flint River Series!
I'm approximately five chapters away from typing those wonderful words—THE END!
Of course, as any writer will tell you, finishing the rough draft doesn't mean the book is finished. There's still plenty of revising, polishing, and editing ahead. But reaching the end of that first draft is always a milestone worth celebrating!
I've loved spending time with Jack Stone and Laurel MacNeil as they search for Laurel's missing mother in Scotland. The beautiful Scottish Highlands provide the perfect backdrop for mystery, danger, and secrets that refuse to stay buried.
I'm looking forward to sharing this story with you, and I can't wait for you to discover what Jack and Laurel uncover!

Last week, I mentioned that we were heading to Utah to watch our grandson play in a fall baseball tournament.
Well, remember how I said I hoped the weather would cooperate?
It didn't! 😂
Unfortunately, the game was rained out. So much for our plans to cheer from the stands!
But you know what? We got to spend lots of time with our grandson, and that made the trip worth every single minute.
As much as we love watching him play baseball, the real joy is simply being together. Those moments become more precious with every passing year, and I'll happily take extra family time over a baseball game any day.
Besides, there's always another game!
🐴 BARN NEWS: LET THERE BE LIGHT!
I've got some exciting news from the home front!
Our barn is officially 100% functional! 🎉
After months of planning, construction, delays, and seemingly endless little projects, we've reached the finish line!
My husband installed solar panels on the barn roof to provide the small amount of electricity we need, and we now have LIGHTS AND POWER!
I can't tell you how exciting it is to flip a switch and actually have light in the barn. It's one of those little things you don't fully appreciate until you've been doing without it!
And that's not all...
The stall runs are finished, too!
Which means Nika and Sunny finally have their beautiful new home, complete with everything they need.
And I'm happy to report that they love it! ❤️
It's wonderful to see them settled in and enjoying their new space. This barn has been a labor of love, and watching the horses enjoy it makes all the hard work worthwhile.
Now that the barn is functional, maybe we'll finally have a little more time for riding. At least, that's the plan! 😉
Between a nearly completed manuscript, a wonderful family visit, and two happy horses in their new barn, I'd say it's been a pretty good week—even if the weather didn't cooperate with our baseball plans!
I'm feeling especially grateful for these moments, big and small.
Thank you for continuing to follow along with my writing adventures and the happenings around our little mountain homestead. I love sharing these glimpses of life beyond the books with you.
Now, I'd better get back to Jack and Laurel. They're counting on me to get them through those final five chapters!
